Now, via a video coming out of Toy Fair 2014 that shows off the details of
a Green Goblin collectible bust, we’re getting some answers, visually anyway, as to what we might see in the film.
Spoilers ahead, so proceed with caution!
In the video, the bust of the Green Goblin does indeed show off a striking likeness to Dane DaHaan, who plays Harry Osborn in the new Spider-Man films, so it would appear that it will be Harry taking on the persona of the Goblin. The bust also shows that Harry’s face appears to be permanently transformed into a Goblin-esque visage, with a more hooked nose and elongated face overall. Could this imply that Harry’s usage of the Goblin serum warps his appearance? This would match up with the new movies’ inspirational use of the Ultimate Spider-Man comic books, in which Norman Osborn’s use of the serum transforms him into a hulking goblin monstrosity. This version of the Green Goblin will be available later this year in toy form.
Interestingly, there doesn’t seem to be much “green” going on here, aside from pieces of the main body armor and what appears to be attachments to Harry’s ears. Perhaps Harry will go strictly by the moniker Goblin or even take the name Hobgoblin in this universe. Or perhaps, this is simply a mid-stage transformation, with the true Green Goblin to be revealed in a future sequel.
For now, take a look at the video and give us your thoughts on Green Goblin’s appearance. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits screen May 2nd, 2014
