The key to dressing up for Thanksgiving Day is wearing something comfortable, sensible, warm, yet very attractive and able to wear for a party. The amount of food you're bound to gobble up during dinner is probably more than you usually eat in a week!
If you want to keep the outfit simple, then a soft grey cowl neck sweater dress or a long sweater with leggings would be cute. If you want to dress it up with accessories, then find a wide belt that matches your boots and a cute pair of chandelier earrings. And your top should be short sleeve or three-quarter sleeve if you want to wear bangle bracelets. Just be careful not to overdo it with the accessories, meaning pick two (earrings & belts or earrings & bracelets).
You could wear a pair of nice jeans. A nice dress shoe with square heels that are not very high. Then a nice white long-sleeved blouse and a nice fitting jacket of any color. Pick a jacket that goes right below your hips, no longer. You could shop for these at a second-hand store, Wal-Mart, or online at ebay.com.
I'd wear a red (fall color) top with a white sweater (if it's cold), dark blue jeans, and cute red ankle boots (ankle boots are IN!).
If you are going to a party at night, you can dress up in a parade. Then you need a sensible, warm outfit yet very attractive and able to wear for a party! I like American eagle, tillys, forever21, heritage, Topshop, and brass plum!
I think vintage and thrift stores are the best places to shop. As for sweater dresses, you have to think of how you can accessorize them and make them better. Like a really cute high waist belt. Some pretty bracelets and cute flats or wedges create more shape for the dress.
Hope this has helped at all!!
